Metal restaurant chairs earn their place where the room works hard: high turnover, frequent resets, function rooms that change layout weekly. A welded steel frame takes abuse a timber joint eventually gives up on, and most models stack.
The frames here are powder-coated or chromed steel, welded rather than bolted, with glides specified to suit your floor. Powder-coat colours are open — RAL reference on request — and seat pads can be upholstered in contract fabric or vinyl, or left as bare timber or moulded shells.
The one honest weakness of metal is the finish rather than the frame: coating chips at the foot first, so specify a heavier coat where chairs are moved daily and order spare glides with the original run.
Where metal sits against wood and polypropylene on cost, weight and lifespan is covered in our dining chair materials guide.
